Cross Country at Bicton

After our successful cross country event at Brixinton Primary School, we entered our year 3, 4 5 and 6 girls teams into the grueling 1.25 mile event. Each race consisted of between 20-40 athletes, with all of our students doing outstandingly well. They all tried their hardest and gave the school mostly top ten finishes. Well done to Phoebe in year 6 for coming 1st in the girls year 5 and 6 race.

Tag Rugby Competition

On Tuesday our year 6 Tag Rugby teams went to Exmouth Community College for the area qualifiers. Brixington brought two squads which both did well in the group stages. The A team won each of their games by a considerable amount. Out B team Won 1, drew 1 and lost 2. The next rounds say our A team against Woodbury. After going ahead and dominating the match, we eventually lost after the final whistle, to harshly go out. Our B team lost to Bassetts Farm Primary School, who only brought one team to the competition. The A team went on to win the 3rd and 4th play-off game.

Bikeability at Brixington

Over the last 2 weeks, over 40 children in Year 5 have been developing their cycle skills as they complete a bikeability Level 2 course. The course runs over 5 days and prepares children to ride safely on the road. We have been very pleased that so many children are enjoying learning to be safe on their bikes.

An excited  Year 5 group just about to head on to the road!

Last half term almost 80 children in Years 3 and 4 completed the Bikeability Level 1 course. This course helped children improve their bike handling skills within the school environment.

New bike and scooter storage ready for Active travel week

Brixington now has some cycle and scooter storage facilities! The bike racks, funded by SUSTRANS, will store over 20 cycles and are located on the lower site. The scooter pods, located at each entrance, will store 10 scooters each.

New cycle storage!

This week, the children of Brixington have been trying to travel to school in active ways. Each day classes complete a survey, finding out who has walked, cycled, scooted or come by car. We are really pleased that many families are trying to walk, even if travelling by car may be a bit more convenient! Thank you to all who have taken part.
