Dance in Year 3 and 4: 19.5.15

Yesterday a dance teacher called Emily Cane, from Premiere Education, came to Brxington to teach Dance in our Arts week. She worked with both Y3 classes as they created a 'Dinosaur dance' as part of their topic on the Jurassic Coast.

Later she helped Y4 create a dance to African beats and rythyms, as part of their study on Benin. The children had a great time!

We look forward to seeing Emily again, when she works with children in Years 1 & 2.

Y6 Rounders Competition @ Exmouth Community College: 19.5.15

Yesterday the Brixington rounders team competed in the local rounders tournament at Exmouth Community College. Despite the wind and the occasional heavy shower, the children played very well as they competed against other local schools.

Unfortunately, although they won many of their games, they missed out on progressing to the next phase by a single point, but the children really enjoyed themselves and are keen to play more rounders during the remainder of the term.

Well done to them all!

Y4 Tennis club: 1st half Summer term

This half term, children in Y4 have been able to join the tennis after school club. They played matches against one another and developed their volleying, forehand and backhand technique. Perhaps we might see one or two playing at Wimbledon one day...

Y5/6 Athletics event @ Exmouth Community College - 12.5.15

On Tuesday a team of children, selected from those who went to the Year 5&6 Athletics club, competed against teams from other local primary schools. In a really enjoyable event, the boys and girls took part in throwing, jumping and running events and did extremely well, though they did not qualify for the East Devon Finals. Congratulations to those that took part!
